I believe that you have only one Mum and Dad, Miss Patil, so if you write 'Private Message to Mum and Dad' in your journal, the journal magic will direct that to the proper individuals.
On the other hand, should your mother write 'Private message to my daughter,' it would be visible to both you and your twin. If she wrote 'Private message to my daughter in Ravenclaw,' it would be visible solely to you.
